[SOLVED] I am unable to visit certain websites after an update.

Hello,

Today, I updated my system and now I am unable to visit the following websites:

https://www.duckduckgo.com/
http://www.hulu.com/

How do I troubleshoot this issue? I could not find relevant information online. I did make a change to

 /etc/hosts

in an attempt to correct the issue. Since I lacked the appropriate knowledge, I booted another Linux operating system and copied the

 /etc/hosts

file and saved it in Arch. I have not observed a change since I created the new file. I will be happy to supply the text from the original file as well as the new one if it is necessary to share - I do not know if it is necessary.

Thank you in advance,

ENF

NordVPN is a VPN service, if you didn't install and don't use it, you don't have it…

Please post the outputs of

ip a
ip r
cat /etc/resolv.conf
cat /etc/nsswitch.conf
ps aux | grep resolved

That was not a good idea.  This is not likely the cause of your current issues (especially since the problem predated this snafu), but it may cause others.  Fix your /etc/hosts properly.

Did you update the hostname: or is it the same on both machines?

You don't get an IPv4 lease, check https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 1#p1879501 - seems NM botched their dhcp4 client.

Unrelated: If you kept a copy of the original hosts file, restore it. Otherwise post the current one as well. (Because aside the hostname, you don't know what other changes are in there)

Thank you very much! I appreciate your assistance. My issue is resolved.

***Chosen Solution***

- I replaced the /etc/hosts file with the original file (that matches the arch installation guide).
- I removed NetworkManager and replaced it with dhcpcd.
