Looks like completely unmaintained software, why do you want to use them at all?
That said what kind of terminal do you want to open them in, what's your output for
echo $TERMOffline
i use it with gnome-terminal,than Enter echo $TERM to display xterm-256color

That's because I've used it in freebsd before, and I find it interesting

The code uses either terminfo (should be available) or termcap (not) to determine the terminal and whether it wants to run on it…
Try "TERM=xterm aee" or "TERM=linux aee" or "TERM=linux aee", but more importantly: look for a maintained editor you like (the scale ranges from nano over vim to emacs - the extremes oc. being completely insane choices ;-)
