First off, I realize this is similar to another iwlwifi issue reported in this forum. I didn't just post this there because it manifests differently.
I've noticed for a while that my computer keeps freezing intermittedly for a few seconds, then working normal again for a while. I went from suspecting several different websites (since it happened more often when browsing), to suspecting applications, to thinking my computer was compromised (since the problem didn't appear when I completely disabled internet access, and it severely hampered being able to update the system due to timing out downloads), to wiping my entire linux system and replacing it with archlinux proper (had manjaro before).
While the wiping was apparently not necessary, it at least helped me by pointing at the culprit, because the issue reappeared during the archlinux installation procedure, with nicely visible errors in archiso's console.

Also, the frequency seems to depend not on time, but on the amount of data flowing through the wlan connection.

What's much worse though, is that after some of those hard lockups (like the one I experienced just a few minutes ago), the computer no longer reacts to input on USB ports. Since my motherboard has no PS/2 ports, that leaves me with a system that is no longer frozen, but which I can no longer interact with, except by pressing the power-button.
I'd post the dmesg for that here, but because I was forced to force-reboot, anything dmesg might have known is gone. I'd have to run something that continually writes the output of dmesg into a file and "hope" the USB-ignoring issue happens again.
