Multitouch support with different de

I'm playing with an electron application with multitouch support.

The application works correctly when launched inside gnome 3.
But if I remove gnome 3 and put the application directly inside .xinitrc (which would be ideal this being a kiosk-like thing) the multitouch support in the application gets glitchy.
Mostly it still works, but the gestures detection sometimes doesn't work. It seems like an application bug, but on gnome3 it works flawlessly.
Does anyone knows what gnome3 "does" the way the OS handles the multitouch support?
