Kernel panic at poweroff, NVME drive

When i poweroff the PC, i see a kernel panic, then the power off message after "end trace". and the PC shuts down. Note the word "nvme" in the call trace that suggests  that this issue is related to the NVME SSD drive.

Software
ArchLinux stable
kernel          linux 5.4.10.arch1-1
filesystem     btrfs on top of LUKS
GPU driver     Nvidia proprietary

Hardware
SSD     Samsung SSD NVME M.2 970 EVO
CPU     AMD 3900X
GPU     Nvidia RTX2080 S
Mainboard gigabyte X570 aorus Pro

EDIT 1: This issue is known by users https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comm … l_oops_on/, and there has been discussion on a mailing list about it and a patch https://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/l … 23258.html

I have no idea if it got forgotten or if there is work to include this patch. Would it make sense to contact the mailing list again?

EDIT 2: Digged up another mailing list thread about the issue https://lkml.org/lkml/2019/5/24/704

Re: Kernel panic at poweroff, NVME drive

Sorry, no clue how posting to those MLs would be received.

The issue smells like firmware problems.

Gigabyte has 3 variants, the X570 AORUS PRO, X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI and the X570 AORUS PRO WIFI .
They all seem to use same firmware though.

F11 is the latest version gigabyte released for your motherboard, are you using that ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Re: Kernel panic at poweroff, NVME drive

My Mainboard variant is X570 AORUS PRO (without wifi)

My BIOS version is F11, the latest version

I also noticed the following message in dmesg:

nvme nvme0: missing or invalid SUBNQN field

Re: Kernel panic at poweroff, NVME drive

Several search results with that error message mention drive firmware and/or controller firmware issues.

install nvme-cli and post output of nvme list (run as root) .
Also post full dmesg .
