Ok, this is really weird.
What happens? When playing games (Dead Cells in my case) the screen goes black periodically, making the game practically unplayable. First i thought it has something to do with steam or some missing libs, but I also own the GOG version and installed that with the exact same behavior. Playing the game in windowed mode works as workaround, but is of course not a solution. (And I also want to find out what is happening here)
I'm running gnome, with a Nvidia GTX 1070 and the nvidia-drivers. Everything else is working fine. By the way, the screen does not go into standby or turns off, it just goes black.
One thing that is maybe important: when I run the game (steam or non-steam) on a Gnome-Classic Session, everythings works as expected.

Check the journal on whether there are gnome/mutter errors. Are you on Wayland or xorg? Try xorg if wayland.

I can't find any Gnome/Mutter errors in the journal so far. I'm running Gnome via xorg. I will test now if a new user profile ist helping.

If there is one thing I can't stand at all, it's errors that magically disappear again. I can't reproduce it right now. However, I've had it before, so I expect it will happen again. Maybe there will be a chance to have a closer look at it.
