Geany's default font, Monospace, is cutting some diacritics, namely circumflexes and tildes. It's especially difficult to see them when text is unzoomed.
(zoomed text in Geany)
Is this somehow related to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … _Monospace?

Possibly. What is you monospace font (it's a generic name)
fc-match monospace
Also, does it only happen with certain font sizes (typically odd ./. even)?
In case, I'll advertise "Source Code Pro" as possible alternative (but I don't use geany, so I can't claim it will work for sure)

I don't understand why you've linked to a potential solution but not actually tried it

That's exactly the font I use as an alternative.

I did try, that's why I mentioned it. This issue could also be related to the Pango update.

I'm frankly unsure about the state of this thread, do you get the same issue w/ SourceCodePro and again: what is the "Monospace" default? ("Monospace" is not an actual font, it's a generic name for whatever actual font is configured as monospace default)

fc-match monospace shows:
DejaVuSansMono.ttf: "DejaVu Sans Mono" "Book"
Using Liberation Mono in ~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/10-dejavu-replace.conf doesn't fix it.
Using font "SourceCodePro" does.
fc-match monospace
SourceCodePro-Regular.otf: "Source Code Pro" "Regular"
