I got my ncmpcpp to work last night for the first time. Today I tried to go through the same battery of fixes to run it again but haven't been able to get it working. At first, I thought it was a configuration issue, but after trying to load mpd with different configurations, I think the issue might be with the way I am using the services and/or socket.

You should use the user service of MPD for that and not the system service: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mu … th_systemd (as in use
systemctl --user start mpd.serviceand disable/stop the system service before hand.

Stopped/disabled mpd.services
sudo systemctl stop mpd.service && sudo systemctl disable mpd.serviceThen started and enabled as user
systemctl start mpd.service && systemctl enable mpd.serviceThis fixed the problem right away. Solved.
