Googling gives me irrelevant answers, can anyone tell me how to mute xscreensaver screen savers? Some of the screen savers have sound effects, and xscreensaver-demo doesn't have an option to mute the screen saver sounds.

It's likely these are implemented within the screensavers themselves and thus there not being a generic xscreensaver method for it. If you use pulse you could identify the sink it registers under and mute that. If you use ALSA you'll likely have to mute the entire audio card and the xscreensaver-command man page happens to have an example specifically for that.

You might be able to configure the sound away in ~/.xscreensaver (no GUI, though)
What hack does actually come with sound??
