Nickelback and Arch with old HP laptop

I"m sitting here listening to Nickelback on my HP laptop.  It"s a 4150 Old by industry standards.
Setup wasn't easy, but I managed. Now that I have made my way through introduction, I find it interesting, What does arch intend as a user.
I read all over the doc's. If you don't know linux, this distro isn't for you.
I still consider myself a Noob, although I purchased my first linux distro as Mandrake 7.0 at BestBuy.
I'm not a developer or a radical, just a fireman who has made a hobby out of his computer and linux.
Eventually I plan to learn something besides the Basic and Pascal languages I learned in High School, but for now I"m happy making my little laptop play mp3's and movies under Linux.
Love Arch,
Gonna Put It On Me Destop,
Hope Yall Dont Mind,
Used, Gentoo, Debian, SuSE, Mandrake, Redhat, Fedora Core, Slack.
I hear that arch plays close to the linux vest.
I will tell you that there is no linux standard.
Bull Crap to those who say its standard.
There is no standard and they know that.
Every Noob has to learn a different system admin with every distro.
I always like to badmouth my favorite distrobution.
Damn Jarhead!

Re: Nickelback and Arch with old HP laptop

there are standards for linux but there is leeway on standards whereever you go. lsb is one standards group (which i think needs work).

nickleback? ew.  never appealed to me in the slightest i would rather listen to heather nove, van morrison, etc.

Heather Nova makes great music. However, I still think she better known in
Europe.
But honestly I worry about you a bit, com on van Morrison doesn't ring a
bell? ("Sometimes we cry" rerecorder with Tom Jones eg.)

Re: Nickelback and Arch with old HP laptop

van morrison has only been around for ...hmmm...at least 33 years.

domino is another long running song of his on almost every retro radio channel. one of his best songs is i'll be your lover too which was used for the closing credits of the movie proof of life. it is an amazing song now as it was when it came out in like 1970-72.

Perhaps I'm showing my (lack of) age, but haven't heard of any of those songs or the movie either.

Re: Nickelback and Arch with old HP laptop

Reminds me of a video I have somewhere of Nickelback being bombarded with stuff on stage. They eventually take their wussy asses off stage, and some genious hits the singer straight in the head as they are leaving. Comedy gold.

(No, I don't care for them much wink )

Re: Nickelback and Arch with old HP laptop

rofl.

The scary part is that my sister is slated to see a Nickelback concert in about 10 hours. Ugh. I'm not really related to her though, she was deposited by aliens and my parents took pity on her.

No... that implies that I'm human. I'm the one that was deposited by aliens. :-D

Re: Nickelback and Arch with old HP laptop

The choice of music wasn't necessarily the point.
I've been working my way through these forums and found alot of elite folks and attitudes.
I'm just a regular guy with an old computer.
I can get Arch and alot of other Distro's workiing perfectly.
I don't see the difference between this forum and most others including Gentoo.
I got 8 replies to my post and 7 were critical of my music choice.
Only one actually had any substance.
My point isn't that Arch forums are bad, just not different from just about any other linux forum I have ever visited.
I'm using Arch right now and as long as it doesn't thrash the file system somewhere along the line, I'll probably keep it.
Pacman is working great. Evolution is the only application that wouldn't install without a little extra effort.
Great Job;

Re: Nickelback and Arch with old HP laptop

i never said they were better. forums are forums. eventually there are enough people around with no time that they get off track easily or are pissed and decide to go trolling.

personally i don't usually respond to many OT posts or start them.

also i could not really care less what you listen to ... i just commented that I do not really like them nor do i understand why they are so popular. i do know they are far too overplayed on the radio but thankfully the station i listen to now does not have the opportunity to play them very much.

Dusty,

man hit the internet proof of life came out like two years ago. meg ryan and russel crowe were in it. so does this mean you are only two?

I know who that's directed at..

I'm going to try to be more on track now, I promise.  Except in off topic.

personally i don't usually respond to many OT posts or start them.

That's bull. You respond to plenty of my posts, and I'm about 99% off topic. I'm quite useless in fact. I mean, look at this post.

No, 10 times that... I'm only quite oblivious to stuff that has to do with offline media. Sorry.

I've heard of Meg Ryan though. tongue

Re: Nickelback and Arch with old HP laptop

bah. i only respond to your off topic stuff because you are an evil saskabushian. tongue

well proportionally i would stand by my claim that i do not contribute to OT that much.

so bah and double bah.

Well, of course not, the whole point of things going off topic is that anything that is said is not actually a contribution.

I take great pleasure in finding off topics that I can bait you into joining. wink
