[SOLVED] kde plasma - second monitor desktop is not reactive
Hi.
I can not open any folder on my second monitor or drag files to it or even create a new text file. it's completely locked. I had some options before in my "Configuring desktop" menu that is missing now.

on my second monitor, I have some limited options for example location tab is missing. how can I fix this?

If you look at the menu you have opened, there's an Unlock Widgets menu point, click that.

I tried that too. unlocking widgets is not related to this problem

Then you have to clarify what your problem is... The mentioned symptoms are very much related. Creating any sort of "thing" on a plasma desktop is a widget. What you probably actually want to do is make it a Folder view like your main screen, but that change is also tied to the widget logic.
How did you configure that screen? What's your
xrandr -qis this a distinct xorg screen as opposed to an extension?

No from xorgs aspect/screen config wise everything is fine.
I still believe the widget lock to be related to this, the fact that this gets fixed on Activity switch further enforces this imo. But FWIW something else to check, what's your output for
qdbus org.kde.plasmashell /PlasmaShell org.kde.PlasmaShell.dumpCurrentLayoutJS #Needs qt5-toolsOnline

you were right. in this output, I found a video background config that I'm not using now in the Wallpaper section. I changed the layout to Folder view in background settings and problem fixed.
now I feeling stupid!! I don't know how I didn't find that setting before !!

where is the location of this config file? if I want to manually edit those settings

And it's like, literally on the screenshot you posted.
That said, I suppose ~/.config/plasmarc (or ~/.config/plasma/plasmarc ? not on my Arch and not sure anymore just check around there), depending on what you want to do you might also be interested in Plasma's scripting interface: https://userbase.kde.org/KDE_System_Adm … pScripting
