[SOLVED] Plasma dead after update

So I forgot to update my system for a bunch of days, now I did and Plasma 5 is dead.

No panels, widgets, background images, not even right click context menu on desktop.

Nothing in Xorg logs, but there are two stack traces in the journal: https://pastebin.com/VMAw2mfe

Help would be appreciated.

Re: [SOLVED] Plasma dead after update

Update your system again, you are likely running into the mesa AVX2 requirement that was accidentally hard enabled, ensure you get mesa 19.3.4-2

If that isn't it (the stack traces don't really read like what I'd expect to be typical of this issue, post a pacman log from that last update so we know what exactly was updated.

Re: [SOLVED] Plasma dead after update

I upgraded about 5 minutes before posting here, and I already had 19.3.4-2 version of mesa already.

Here is the pacman log: https://pastebin.com/2uZQRnp4

I did another upgrade but only a few packages had upgrades and it made no difference:

Packages (6) linux-5.5.4.arch1-1 linux-headers-5.5.4.arch1-1 linux-lts-5.4.20-1 nvidia-440.59-8
             nvidia-lts-1:440.59-6 python-setuptools-scm-3.4.3-1

Update your system again

So rerolled my system to the February 1 snapshot and Plasma works again. It was still broken with the February 10 snapshot.

Plasma should be printing an error message to stdout, what is that message?

Re: [SOLVED] Plasma dead after update

Sorry for the late reply, I missed that I got an answer, and I was on the rolled back system so I can work.

I just upgraded my system back to current date to see if the issue was fixed in the meanwhile, and apparently it was.
