[SOLVED] Mathematica: problem with fonts after upgrade

After an upgrade my copy of Mathematica has stopped working with the following error:

Mathematica: cairo-scaled-font.c:459: _cairo_scaled_glyph_page_destroy: Assertion `!scaled_font->cache_frozen' failed.
/home/user/bin/mathematica: line 152:  3109 Aborted                 (core dumped) "${MathematicaFE}" -topDirectory "${TopDirectory}" "$@" $mesa

I have found two possible solutions but none of them applies to my system:

This guy recovered by using an old font.conf (which I do not have any backup)

And this other guy is using something from Ubuntu:

Sorry for the noise, installing just another font (fc-cache didn' t do it for me) solved the issue. I installed ttf-dejavu and that worked.
