KDE Discover AUR backend?

I'm trying to make my Arch as MacOS like as possible, and I'm currently trying to set up KDE Discover to become a one stop shop to install all of my software.
I have the regular Arch repositories running perfectly, but am finding a lot of packages that aren't on there and aren't on Flatpak either.
I know there exists GUIs such as octopi, but I'm wondering if there are any AUR back-ends for KDE Discover that will search and build?

No, there aren't. It's also potentially dangerous if you hide the fact that AUR packages are being handled behind some GUI that obfuscates the underlying process. You should always check and verify AUR packages as they are user provided and unvetted content.

Re: KDE Discover AUR backend?

https://aur.archlinux.org > Search package > Download Snapshot > tar -xf packagename.tar.gz > makepkg

Is there something better than this for AUR??

Have a good day

Re: KDE Discover AUR backend?

I know this has been dormant for a while, but I recently went searching for a solution regarding this issue. The vast majority of info out there seems to be anecdotal opinions about how it's not a good idea, yet Manjaro has had this functionality in Pamac for years will little to no friction. Mechanically, I don't see how there would be any difference between how it works in Pamac (which is just a front end for Yay, among other things) and how it would theoretically work in Discover. I have absolutely no evidence to back this up, but I'm willing to bet overwhelming majority of people use a helper such as Yay or Tyzen at the very least to install and update AUR packages. If it is to be a philosophical argument, then yes - I agree users should have a fundamental understanding of what is happening when they install user-shared software, compiled on the fly with the guidance of a pkgbuild. But beyond that, creating tooling to automate, and improve efficiency are part of what it means to be a Linux user. There's my nickel worth of free opinion nobody asked for.

If you can't be helpful, don't say anything at all. Fair enough?
