A new issue has emerged with my system. I noticed that plymouthd runs automatically on reboot and consumes 8% of the cpu and I haven't made any changes. I have to manually kill it to stop it.
I did use the program about 4 days ago just to check its functionality but I must admit I run it in konsole and not with the TTY so I have a feeling some desktop setting has been triggered because of it for it to automatically run on reboot.
I have checked my autostart and autostart-scripts in KDE but there's nothing there to suggest for it to autorun.
Any way I can fix this? As mentioned I'm using KDE with xorg.
Thanks in advance.

Seems to have fixed itself after the recent update of plymouth-git.
