Black Screen on first-time Boot during Installation on Virtualbox

I am using Oracle Virtualbox to boot Arch Linux on my Ubuntu OS.
Every time I Select "boot Arch Linux (x86_64)" from the boot menu,
a list of processes appear and the entire screen goes blank 5 seconds later.

Other solutions to this problem have suggested using `nomodeset`, but I don't think it will work in my case. Since I'm using Virtualbox, I shall most likely have to configure my software only.
Any solutions to this?

Well what's the configuration of your VBox? Which virtual graphics driver do you use, which specs did you pass, are HW virtualisation extensions on the CPU enabled? And you could just try nomodeset if that is indeed the issue to verify whether your graphics config needs fixing.

Re: Black Screen on first-time Boot during Installation on Virtualbox

I have enabled 3D Acceleration,
Video Memory: 39 MB.

I have also enabled Hardware Virtualization: VT-x/AMD-V, and Nested Paging.

My VGA Controlller is listed as Intel Corporation HD Graphics, so I'm guessing that's the answer to the Virtual Graphics driver I use

Re: Black Screen on first-time Boot during Installation on Virtualbox

You might have to give more than 40MB for a KMS console to work.

What VGA you have doesn't answer the question no, VBox  has different virtual graphics drivers (VMSVGA, VBoxSVGA ,VBoxVGA)  it can use, the newer one has at least in the near past (which VBox version?) had potential issues, switch around between them.

You should also read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Vi … nux_guests in particular the framebuffer section (and the linked merge candidate)

Also in case this is unclear, can you not press anything? You should see a prompt, you aren't going to see a GUI.
