gimp version

Hi!

After pacman -Syu I get a message:

gimp: local (2.2.13-1) appears to be newer than repo (testing/2.2.12-4).

Thanks.

Re: gimp version

i have experienced this in the past.. i don't know exactly what causes it... all i can assume is that somehow... maybe the downloader tries to connect to a repo, then can't so pacman forwards it to another repo, which simply hasn't synced yet...

it shouldn't be any problem.. so feel free ot ignore it..rollback the package if the message is annoying you.. smile

Re: gimp version

lumiwa, that message is telling you that a package (gimp) that you built locally is newer than the one on the repo.

Re: gimp version

No - it means the installed package is newer than the one on the repo, regardless of whether it was built locally or installed from a repo. The root cause is a dev oversight that occurs occasionally - testing/gimp is version 2.2.12-4, but current/gimp is 2.2.13-1 i.e. your installed package. I'm seeing it too at the moment - if you weren't using testing, it wouldn't appear.

Re: gimp version

lumiwa, yes. I see. I am sorry. Usually why I don't respond when I am not 100% sure. I just assumed ( which I shouldn't had) that was the reason because In my 2+ years using Arch that was the only time I had seen that message. I see and understand the reason now. Thanks tomk
