Back in february I had it working by following the https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Smartcards guide. Now I'm on a new arch installation and I followed the smartcard guide to get it working as before but without success. My system recognise the smartcard and I can see the content but for some reason neither chromium nor firefox can. I added the "cac module" in both browsers as the guide recommends. Any help?

Maybe you don't have the necessary certificates installed ?
If you're trying to access US department of Defense sites, this opensuse wiki indicates you have to install some certificates.

It's not US DoD, its Brazil IRS. I have all the required certificates installed.
After a lot of struggle I gave up and just used windows. It just work out-the-box there.
Thanks anyway!

Finally made it work again. In firefox instead of using the recommended /usr/lib/opensc-pkcs11.so as the module file name by the wiki smartcards page, I used /usr/lib/libaetpkss.so and it worked.

This excellent wiki article is useful as well - I have this working for Chromium on US DoD smart cards as well: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Smartcards
I know you are in a different country but the wiki may prove useful at some point.
