[SOLVED] Black screen with nvidia-440.64-9

Upgrading to newest nvidia driver gave me a black screen. Checking logs Xorg logs gives.

Downgrading to nvidia-440.64.8 solves the issue.

Re: [SOLVED] Black screen with nvidia-440.64-9

That means your kernel is outdated in comparison to the nvidia module version. The versions in the outputs of

pacman -Q linux
uname -a

must match (and should be 5.5.13-arch2 on a properly updated system). This most often happens because you didn't have your boot partition mounted during the kernel update, or maybe because your mirror didn't yet sync the kernel packages. Make sure you use up to date mirrors. On updating your system you should get nvidia-440.64-9 and linux  5.5.13-arch2

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

I was using reflector to keep mirrorlist up to date. But it seems that is selecting some mirrors that are not so quick at syncing.

Selecting a different mirror is offering me the newest linux kernel that you mention. Thanks again.
