Frame skipping on 144Hz

After completely switching to Arch (previously I was using Windows in Dual Boot), I noticed that games would stutter almost as much as on 60Hz. After doing some testing on testufo.com, I found out that this might be due to frame skipping. Since I wasn’t sure if a browser could accurately measure such things compared to a desktop application or game, I wrote a quick frame skipping tester in C++ using SFML:

I installed the “sfml” package and compiled the program with: “g++ frameskip.cpp -o frameskip -lsfml-graphics -lsfml-window -lsfml-system”.
Still, there was exactly the same, very obvious frame skipping as only about every second rectangle was actually visible.
I have looked into the KDE Plasma display settings, the NVIDIA X Server Settings and even xrandr. All of them had a 144Hz mode selected. I even tried installing i3wm, but nothing changed. I would greatly appreciate any help regarding this issue.
Here are some of my hardware specs that may be relevant:
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Monitor: iiyama ProLite GB2488HSU
Connector: DisplayPort

Nvm, solved it! I just had to add my user to the video group and now everything's fine. Apparently NVIDIA requires that. I just find it weird that this wasn't mentioned in any resource I could find.

membership of that group is normally not needed anymore[1], maybe you have a session problem[2] ?
