No, they dropped support for April fools.

To bad we can't just drop support for fools.

Re: It's the first of April and I don't see any news

In one of the previous discussions (where Graysky again asked where the 04/01 joke was), I posted links to a weather website I'm quite fond of as they had quite a drastic "reformatting" of their page that year.

I followed the link that I had posted years ago, and of course all that joke content was long gone.  The site looked normal except for an informational notice at the top indicating that they just joined apple with a link to their blog for more information.

I thought, "oh crap, that sucks".  I read the blog and was gradually getting angrier and angrier (the android app will be discontinued, etc).  I got all the way to the end before it hit me ...

Unfortunately Trilby, I don't think that's an April fools. The post is dated the 31st and it's been reported by the BBC as well...

It's also perfectly in line with Apple's MO. And I don't think Cupertino does April Fools.

But if Cupertino did not in fact buy them out at all, then does it matter what they do?

Re: It's the first of April and I don't see any news

I find it unlikely that Apple would force them to discontinue the android app ... what, out of spite?  It's an income source, why bin it?  That's the part that had me baffled when reading it - there was no logical reason for it, it was completely absurd.  Which is what made me think/realize it was a joke.

I'm not too concerned about losing the app (though I do use the widgets), but I just find it very hard to believe that Apple is that petty.

EDIT: It does seem to be getting media coverage all over though.  So maybe it is true ... or it's one of the best April fools ever.
