[SOLVED] Momentary screen garble on X with Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hello

Since a few days on X, theres a sort of screen garble where horizontal and vertical lines appear under a colored background for a few milliseconds before visual elements render normally or I move my mouse. I couldnt manage to print the garble (at least I learned about xbindkeys). Im using dwm as window manager, but I started keepassxc directly with startx and I observed the garble too. My system is up do date, and I have xf86-video-vesa, vulkan-intel and mesa installed. Im on a notebook (81FE Lenovo Ideapad 330-15IKB), using integrated graphics of Intel i5-8250U (8th generation Kaby Lake R), which is Intel UHD Graphics 620. The problem is recent, but previously it didnt occur. Lazy, I thought it would solve with time or in a future upgrade, so now I dont know anymore which upgrade is responsible for it.

What do I do? Should I read Downgrading packages? Is this bug related? I noticed the user who reported it has the same integrated graphics I do. Is there anything I could contribute to this bug report? Is there any log or command output I should show?

Edit: solved by downgrading mesa from 20.0.2-1 to 19.3.4-2. Setting MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=i965 in /etc/environment also works, or disabling hardware acceleration in applications affected.

You can confirm the bug by either using the environment variable or downgrading mesa.

You don't need to confirm the bug report. The dev has already asked that it be reported upstream.
