Can you see this video?

Hi,

Trying to convert my wife to an Arch user.  She doesn't have much of a chance :-),  but she usually enjoys finding media on the web which does not seem to be managed with mplayer.  Most times, it ends up being something to do with Java scrips which I typically have disabled.

Here's one that has me scratching my head:

Can anyone get this up with the embedded mplayer?  If so, what's your magic?

Hope you all find this a pleasant diversion!  BTW, here's hoping that Barbaro makes a full recovery.

The stream is rtsp://128.91.146.31:554/barbaro060811.mp4 for those who are curious. I couldn't get mplayer or vlc to digest it.

It appears to be a quicktime video that uses a codec that's not yet supported.

Maybe file a bug report with mplayer / vlc ?

Firefox doesn't know what to do with these types of streams. Do this:

Type about:config in the URL bar
Right click in the main window and select new, then String
Enter network.protocol-handler.app.rtsp
Hit OK
Then you need to associate it with something that plays RealPlayer files.

i've only ever gotten kaffeine to play mp4's, weird, know..since kaffeine uses xine as backend(i think, can't remember) ...

ps ..

i tried to play it.. but for some reason i couldn't download it... a connection is established, however nothing is being streamed...afaik

I've tried pasting the URL into mplayer, xine and real player.  Real player tried, but it said it was missing video/h264 (if I recall). 

The information about add rtsp to FireFox seemed to work, if I could find a player...

i've been able to play it with vlc. video lags a bit, no sound.

I use firefox and MediaPlayerConnectivity extension and I can see this video with VLC.

MediaPlayerConnectivity extension is very useful for watching videos on the net.

my case same as noriko, mplayer stuck to streaming something.

BTW, rtsp protocol & mplayer seems to be bad combination as security stand point.
