pacman db.lck

I'm getting:

error: failed to init transaction (unable to lock database)
if you're sure a package manager is not already
  running, you can remove /var/lib/pacman/db.lck

But, there is no /var/lib/pacman/db.lck file to remove?

TIA
Richard

Re: pacman db.lck

is not explicit what you have to do?

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: pacman db.lck

Thanks for the quick response.  I presume you mean I should check if I have another package manager running.

If I use ps, I can't find another pacman:

[root@localhost ~]# ps -ef | grep pacman
root       664   636  0 10:07 pts/0    00:00:00 grep pacman

Also, I've tried rebooting the system, and my first use of the command pacman gives the same error...

Thanks again
Richard

Re: pacman db.lck

if pacman is not running delete the lock.

rm /var/lib/pacman/db.lck

I really doubt they're still looking for a solution eight and a half years later.

You were told after your one other post not to necrobump (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 0#p1701160). You really need to read through the rules.
