Xterm Kerning

I was playing around with some scripts that started/stopped conky and my polybar and somehow that royally screwed my xterm kerning. Now I don't personally know how that would happen though, so it's possible that something else and playing with these scripts is just when I noticed it.

here you can see my .Xresources with the new kerning

and here is an old screenshot I had laying around with how my system typically displays this font (this is still how it is presently outside of xterm)

So you'll see within the .Xresources the line

xterm*faceName: Inconsolata:pixelsize=13

I've checked that Inconsolata is installed with

fc-list :scalable=true:spacing=mono: family | grep Inconsolata

and the whole Inconsolata family is returned

I've also run

xrdb -merge .Xresources

many times, including using different fonts. The font itself will change, but the kerning remains atrocious.

I've already tried just about everything that I can think of, including checking that xterm's "packed font" option is on. Do you smart people know anything I should check?
