Hi, just upgraded my kernel to 5.4.30-1 LTS and not much after that I noticed that I can't use my mouse wheel (cursor at the desktop) to switch to my second Virtual Screen (KDE Plasma 5.18.4) by scrolling my mouse wheel. Only after hovering the cursor over the Virtual Desktops indicator in the tray this works normally. Now I'm not sure if the relation with the kernel upgrade is correct? Any other experiences? Thx, regards, Zach

I'm having the exact same issue. I've been googling but haven't found a solution so far. Anyone else have better luck?

Right click on the desktop and choose Configure Desktop in the context menu. From there on the left panel, you can choose Mouse Action and you can configure a mouse action for what you need.

Understood, but that setting didn't change. I've attempted to change it and change it back to "vertical-scroll : switch desktop" without any effect. Definitely happened after the kernel upgrade. I'm currently running 5.6.3-arch1-1, and ran updates again this morning with a reboot and no changes. Thanks for replying though.

Are you absolutely sure about this? Cause the OP is on the LTS kernel and you're not.
A similar breat at the same time for independent kernel updates is possible, but not necessarily likely. plasma-desktop was last updated March, 31th, the OPs LTS kernel on April, 2nd so there was little margin.

Honestly, there was about a weeks worth of upgrades that were stacked on my system. (I updated once I got back from being at the cabin.) I do realize I'm not on the LTS kernel, I should have been more clear in my original posting. It's possible it's the plasma update that has done it, but it didn't come into effect when I rebooted into the new kernel. (ie. I hadn't rebooted since that last plasma update.)

I did some tests and this function (change desktop with mouse wheel) does not work, if the "folder"-layout of the desktop is used. After switching to "desktop"-layout (not sure if the translation is correct, since I use german translations) it works.
So it seems to be a KDE-bug (or intended behavior; couldn't find anything via google).

I did some testing with this as well. As you say, in desktop mode it works. Interesting behaviour. Thanks for the work around.

Hi, so what I in fact need is being able to keep Folder layout (never changed a thing here) and still keep being able to switch Virtual Desktops with the mouse scroll without having to hover to the virtual desktops tray. I guess that's a backlog item for KDE. Regards, Zach

This is the intended view. If you choose Folder View, this means you can have a specific directory as your view for the desktop which means it will show the icons and files for the specific folder or directory you've set. This means the mouse action will only be specific to navigate through this directory.
The Desktop View is what it says so you can have mouse actions to navigate through the desktop.
