zathura strict sandbox not working

According to the wiki and to man of zathurarc, it is possible to set strict sandbox in the pdf viewer by

cat .config/zathura/zathurarc
set sandbox strict

However, if I do that the program becomes unresponsive upon launching, with no errors in my journal.
Upon inspecting my dmw error file, I found

[ERROR:sandbox_linux.cc(374)] InitializeSandbox() called with multiple threads in process gpu-process.

which could be related.
If launch from terminal, I get the same behaviour, with error

error: Unable to initialize database. Bookmarks won't be available.

I'm using dwm.

$ pacman -Q | grep zathura
zathura 0.4.5-1
zathura-djvu 0.2.9-1
zathura-pdf-poppler 0.3.0-1
zathura-ps 0.2.6-1

I'm not aware of any extra dependency required for this to work, so I wonder whether it is a problem of my system or a bug.
Has anyone experience with this?

Re: zathura strict sandbox not working

However, if I first open zathura with normal sandbox, and then issue

:set sandbox strict

it works as expected.

Re: zathura strict sandbox not working

Ran into a somewhat similar issue today: zathura works as expected with:

set sandbox strict

But kicks back the message:

error: Unable to initialize database. Bookmarks won't be available.

Will try building from git but may just bubblewrap zathura in the end.
