The future of deepin DE on arch Linux

Hi folks,

deepin has announced deepin 20 beta.
https://distrowatch.com/?newsid=10876
https://www.deepin.org/en/2020/04/15/deepin-20-beta/

I have deepin DE set up on my arch-PC - and I love it.

Currently I'm having deepin 15.11 installed. (Update from deepin 15.9 and a fairly old arch-base (6 months old) went smoothly btw. no issues, which is amazing for a rolling release! yikes smile)
Now I wanted to ask you, how the future of the deepin DE packages on arch is. - Will I be updated via pacman to deepin DE 20 beta automatically, or do I  have to do something manually?

Re: The future of deepin DE on arch Linux

Arch generally doesn't package beta releases. It might end up in testing if the maintainer is very active, but usually only finished releases are packaged unless dependency conflicts mandate an early update.

In that aspect deepin seems to be even a special case as it doesn't look like these changes have been officially released yet. What the "distribution" deepin does matters very little, releases are based on the tags made for the relevant components: https://github.com/linuxdeepin/

Thank you for your quick answer, so I have to wait until deepin DE 20 is stable.
Looking forward, though it's cheesy colourful. big_smile

I've read in another forum that they might have changed location for their files from github to somewhere else.
The Maintainer of the arch-package for deepin DE certainly will contact Wuhan enterprise to get to know.

I guess I'm simply too impatient. - I love new stuff, therefore using arch-linux btw. big_smile
