Hi! Sorry for the maybe dumb problem.
I have installed Arch a few years ago on my laptop with the Gnome DE that requires Pulseaudio. I have never been able to make the output sound work with my both integrated speakers and headsets (the microphone seems to work well).
The sound outputs are properly unmuted via alsacontrol and in pavucontrol the proper output card is selected and when I play a sound I see the associated wave in the "output" panel. Nothing is muted in pavucontrol.

If thats your alsa-info output, it shows you have jack installed. So you would need to either bridge jack to pulseaudio by installing pulseaudio-jack and cadence as specified here

or even better, uninstall, jack2 and report back with results. Jack is mostly used for low-latency stuff like audio production (basically home recording) which im 99% sure you aren't doing. Thus uninstall it, its unneccessary.

mitchell jack is installed but not running, hence it should be irrelevant to the problem.

@mitchell4136 Jack2 is not installed. I have just the "jack" package installed that is a dependency of ffmpeg and Firefox. Is it still important that I enable and configure it?

These speech-dispatchers read suspicious, where do they come from? Do you just not hear anything or is it garbled/noise? FWIW based on the alsa-info output, what happens if you explicitly enable the speakers?

I do not manage to get any sound at all, no cracks or noise.
"speech-dispatcher" is a dependency of the Orca accessibility system that is installed with the "gnome" metapackage. I have uninstalled "speech-dispatcher" and "orca" and rebooted.
Here is the "pacmd list-sink-inputs" output after running "amixer -c0 set 'Speaker',0 100%,100%" while playing a YouTube video in Firefox. The "gnome-settings" panel states that their is sound playing from Firefox but I can not hear anything.

That does generally look fine, I assume that
pasuspender -- speaker-test -c2 -Dhw:0doesn't work either? I'd suspect a kernel issue or so but then I'd find it weird that this seems to be an issue over years, somewhat of a farfetched one, try
sudo alsactl initto reinitialize audio firmware state. Also double check whether there's some HW level mute button or so that doesn't get replicated in software state

I have reset alsa state with "sudo alsactl init". I do not have any HV level mute at my knowledge.

It's seems to be a problem with the nouveau GPU driver. It is strange that it seems to affect me too because I use the proprietary NVidia driver.
Would you have any insight about it?

hmm that's weird.
dmesg | grep sndafter this? which kernel are you on? Maybe try the LTS kernel. If you are on 5.6 make sure you are on the latest 5.6.6 there have been a few audio related hickups in at least 5.6.2

Might be worth checking systemctl to make sure everything you want is loaded and active.
