[SOLVED] Need to unbind CTRL+B shortcut, but no global keybinding show

So I am having the same problem as previously discussed here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=254613

So I followed the advice. I'm using xfce4 as window manager and I didn't have systemsettings5 installed, so I installed the systemsettings package and ran it.

However there's no menu to set shortcuts anywhere in systemsettings5, just "web shortcuts": https://imgur.com/a/OpDRO1a

I couldn't find it anywhere in my xfce settings as well. I also tried starting it from a fresh user account and still no dice. Also no way to set this shortcut in konsole.

Any hints on what I am missing?

Re: [SOLVED] Need to unbind CTRL+B shortcut, but no global keybinding show

So you are using konsole as the terminal emulator and not xfce4-terminal?

Are you saying that Ctrl+B is set as a shortcut in konsole?

You need to be more specific in defining your problem.

I do.

yes. And it's bound to Konsole's "Add Bookmark" with the current release and I cannot change it, anywhere.

So, to be more specific what's happening... I tried to CTRL+B in my vim window multiple times before I figured out that it wasn't forwarded to my terminal, and this happened: https://imgur.com/zTXlDQY

Re: [SOLVED] Need to unbind CTRL+B shortcut, but no global keybinding show

Konsole should have a keybinds option in the Settings Dropdown of the menu bar. If it isn't there because it is tied to the systemsettings-kcm you will "need" to install plasma-desktop. That will include the relevant systemsettings option menu to change shortcuts, you can probably uninstall it again after that and the setting will stick, not sure which file it ultimately writes to so you could adjust that in a text editor.

The standard Add Bookmarks shortcut in konsole is Ctrl+Shift+B.

Change it with Settings > Configure Keyboard Shortcuts

How did you install konsole?

Re: [SOLVED] Need to unbind CTRL+B shortcut, but no global keybinding show

systemsettings is only a shell, the config plugin for default local shortcuts will be in some plasma package (but idk. which, sorry)
The brute-force approach would be to install the entire KDE stuff, but I'd first ask myself why I'm using konsole if I don't use anything else from the plasma/kde environment. It's certainly not a bad VTE, but  there're dozens. Some better, some worse than konsole. Most are "just as good".

No, it's not there!

How did you install konsole?

pacman.

Solved it. I installed the package

community/plasma-desktop

and its requirements made global keybinding settings show up in systemsettings5

Pleasew use code tags, not quote tags.
It's in https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … igwidgets/ but I don't see how konsole requires that.

pacman -Qi kconfigwidgets

Re: [SOLVED] Need to unbind CTRL+B shortcut, but no global keybinding show

It was a quote for the pacman log :-) Sorry if that was wrong.

kconfigwidgets is required by ktextwidgets.

Re: [SOLVED] Need to unbind CTRL+B shortcut, but no global keybinding show

Indeed, that's required by kio and that's required by knotifyconfig and that's required konsole…

Shell I/O and file contents go by code tags, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Code_of_conduct

Hi seth, is this the package for global shortcuts?

No: https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … obalaccel/

kconfigwidgets provides a dialog to edit local shortcuts.
