[SOLVED] ACPI not found, can't find any rc.conf file

Hello gentlemen,

After a few months using arch, I just figured out that my nvidia  GPU was not used by my laptop, but my integrated intel was. I use the nvidia drivers, so i re-ran nvidia-xconfig, which generated a new Xorg.conf.
However, when rebooting, nothing changes. So i opened the Xorg log file, and i saw written

(WW) Open ACPI failed (/var/run/acpid.socket) (No such file or directory)

I thought snap, what is that ? After a bit of digging on the forum, and the wiki, i found out i had to first install acpi, then add it to my rc.conf.
And what a surprise when i found out that i had no rc.conf!

So i'm here, as a good newbie, trying to figure out what to do to get my gpu (gtx 960m) to work!

My Xorg,conf looks like this

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Monitor0"
    VendorName "Unknown"
    ModelName "Unknown"
    Option "DPMS"
EndSection

Section "Device"
    Identifier "Device0"
    Driver "nvidia"
    VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "Device0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth 24
    SubSection "Display"
        Depth 24
    EndSubSection
EndSection

and that's pretty much all i have.

Thanks in advance !

Whatever you read is at least seven years out of date -- Arch doesn't use initscripts any more, it uses systemd.

For up-to-date instructions about acpid, read the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Acpid

For your graphics problem, start here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Hybrid_graphics

Re: [SOLVED] ACPI not found, can't find any rc.conf file

Yeah mb, i didn't thought it has something to do with systemd, but now you say it, it's quite obvious. So i enabled acpid, added a nvidia conf file in xorg.conf.d and a nvidia-drm conf file. I also double checked that nouveau was blacklisted, in both modprobe folders,  and yet it still loads at X startup, I don't get why.
Moreover, i get a new error that i don't understand from X logs. They come form drm, which is, if i understood it right, are drivers for intel graphics. I didn't find anything corresponding to my error in the Intel Graphics wiki page, thus i'm wondering what might be wrong.

[ 19.157] (EE) [drm] Failed to open DRM device for (null): -2
[ 19.170] (EE) [drm] Failed to open DRM device for pci:0000:01:00.0: -2

Anyway thanks for your help!

DRM in such messages stands for Direct Rendering Manager which is an integral & important part of the linux graphics stack .

In your case it's probably a timing issue that causes the error.

Start a new thread, post full outputs of lspci -knn , dmesg and/or journal , xorg log .
You may want to use a pastebin client, check wiki.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
