I recently installed both "sane" and "xsane" on my Arch box. I previously set up my HP Laserjet 1200 and printing normal documents under OpenOffice works fine. However, using xsane's "copy" function produces a broken pipe error message. For those unacquainted with xsane, it has the capability to function as a photocopier... which is why I tried to set it up originally. I checked the preferences -> setup under Arch and confirmed that the command used to send data to the printer is "lpr".
I also have a Ubuntu installation located on another hd which is set up with the same software acting as my "control". It functions quite well as a photocopier and printing does not produce any error messages. Moreover, it uses the lpr command under setup.
My conclusion is that there is either a supporting application/file missing under Arch or I have not properly set up xsane.
I would appreciate hearing about anyone's experience with this application under Arch.
