Budgie and GNOME freeze on startup

I have installed GNOME, Budgie, and Xfce4 as desktop environments. I am also using GDM as a display manager.
When I log in using "Budgie Desktop" or "GNOME Session," the system logs in and a message appears saying "Connection Established-You are now connected to the "<SSID>" network," but then none of the display elements do anything when clicked, or even so much as glow. I will try loading Budgie now that I've installed Xfce4, but does anybody have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
EDIT 5: After seeing some log output and similar, I've realised that this may be related to https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1901198 ("Error -61 assigning device properties").

You are no smarter than me, and I am no smarter than you. However, in most cases I'll be using the Arch Linux Forums in, you know more than I plan to learn for a while, if ever.

Re: Budgie and GNOME freeze on startup

Have you tried loading Budgie or Gnome with startx instead of GDM?

You can see how to do that on Arch Linux's wiki page - here for budgie or here for gnome

Yes, both. Neither one worked either.

Re: Budgie and GNOME freeze on startup

I'm having the same issue with GNOME (I don't have Budgie installed). I have disabled all extensions and also did a full rollback of my system to 2020-04-10, and it is still not working. I'm at a loss for what else to try.

Re: Budgie and GNOME freeze on startup

It looks like removing `fcitx` and `ibus` solved the problem for me. I'm not sure why that is, but I will update this thread if I am able to narrow the issue down further.
