Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

@graysky Thank you for this repo! I'm too n00b to compile it myself and now I don't have to learn! big_smile

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

I have a request. Can you add an fsync patch to it besides the optimization patch? It's a small patch that shouldn't cause any unwanted behavior for anything, but it helps with Proton. And I can imagine that a lot of ck users are interested in gaming.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Booting v5.4.15-1 leaves me without network and USB2. I've moved back to the official linux package.
That's what I have in the logs:

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

I am experiencing an issue with NTFS file systems under the CK kernel(linux-ck-skylake 5.5.2), please investigate or tell me how to investigate further, full description here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=252796

Nevermind, this issue affects the standard kernel as well.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

@graysky,

I believe there is no linux-ck-atom-5.5.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst.sig file in your repo hence upgrading to this build fails due to missing signature.

Thanks,

carlitos

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

@carlitos - One of my two build servers rebuilt 5.5.3 rather than 5.5.4 so that is likely the issue.  Rebuilding now, thanks for pointing it out.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

hi @graysky, is it possible to build a linux-ck-lts version? I notice in your repos there is a -zen and but doesn't look like you have a -lts version ... specifically one im looking for is ivybridge ... I mean for ivybridge i really don't need the latest kernel do I? I have pretty old hardware and no need for always the latest and greatest kernel... I am also a newbie when it comes to building my own packages and especially to building my own patched kernel with the ck patchset

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

I am not supplying *-zen, those are in [core].  I am supplying the latest release; no plans to build *-lts.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hello @graysky,

Thank you for providing a great resource for the community! Just curious, would it be possible to add a build and headers for the AMD Excavator family (-march=bdver4) by any chance?

No worries if not, I'm just throwing out a shameless request : )

Tried playing with EHCI and XHCI BIOS settings but nothing changes.

Tried building from source (from AUR) with everything modprobe-db detected.
@graysky: Ideas?

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Can you use linux-ck without building with modprobed-db?  If you can, that rules out the ck1 patchset and points to something missing in your reduced build.  If that is the case, boot to the kernel that works and run `modprobed-db s` to see if you're missing a module(s).  Then rebuild to test functionality.  Modprobe-db relies on upstream provided `make localmodconf` which could be missing something, I don't know.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hello.. just built the AUR package for my CPU and also utilized modprobed-db.. how can I verify that I did install my chosen version and if modprobed.db was successful? I'm guessing it was but was just curious.

I did choose the correct number with

_userarch=10

and set

_localmodcfg=y

My module db is located at

/home/username/.config/modprobed.db

It took a little while but that just might be due to my latop's CPU. Just want to be sure that my settings worked.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

I have very slow connection speeds (around 15 ko/s), would it be because of a misconfiguration of my mirror, or does anybody else has this problem ?

I didn't notice anything unusual in the VM, but I thought I'd forward it nonetheless.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hello,

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm looking for a bit of advice when picking an architecture.  I am using the generic linux-ck binary and have an AMD Excavator series CPU (bdver4).. could I use the Piledriver version for more performance since it is the latest available build for 15h? I know I can build an Excavator specific kernel from the AUR but it takes a while for me.

Thanks

I think these are all backwards compatible.

Thanks @graysky

So a newer entry in the family like Excavator should be fine with using the older Piledriver -ck build? Someone on IRC told me that it would be fine and would be slightly more performant that the generic version

I was thinking an older one but you can try it.  Worst thing that happens is it doesn't boot.  Keep another kernel on board just in case... why not build using a modprobed-db profiled system?  Doesn't take that long honestly.
