Hello,
I have a Ipod classic 160GB which I'm trying to manage with whatever software works. I've tried both clementine and gtkpod but neither of them seem to be able to even just delete files from it.
While trying to find out why gtkpod didn't work I came across this that suggested running the ipod-read-sysinfo-extended command, but it produced the following output:
ipod-read-sysinfo-extended: error while loading shared libraries: libsgutils2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So the problem seems to be this missing libsgutils2.so.2 file.
A debian bug seems to be reported with this same issue so maybe nothing I can do right now??
Thank You.

libsgutils2 seems to be a part of the sg3_utils package, you could try installing that. Particularly if that package doesn't have a lot of dependencies.

Thanks for the reply DeathStar.
sg3_utils is already installed.
What now?

The sg3-utils package got updated recently, and the old library link libsgutils2.so.2 got removed and replaced with libsgutils2-1.45.so.2 . I'm not entirely certain whether the old link is actually expected to remain, but it is in any case fixable by rebuilding libgpod
One should probably report a bug on the bugs.archlinux.org , I'm somewhat busy right now, if I don't get to it please do open a new one. FS#66446 However, this really only seems to be relevant for this particular utility, it doesn't look like anything in libgpod itself links to it. So other programs you are using could indeed be working to the extent they are possible to.
Terminal output of e.g. gtkpod? When/where was the ipod first initialized with?

Thank you V1del.
When I try to save the changes to the ipod on gtkpod I get a "Couldn't find the Ipod firewire ID" message, apparently that's why I needed the ipod-read-sysinfo-extended command according to this page.
I mounted the ipod with KDE so it is under /run/media/user/ipod and all files are owned by UID 99. but I don't think this should be an issue because gtkpod can still access these contents, at least with read access.
Thank You

The package should be recompiled as of the latest libgpod version, can you retest this?
