[Solved] Steam fails to launch (X Error of failed request)

Hi there,
I am having an issue where Steam fails to launch no matter what I try. As soon as I try to launch the program, it almost immediately quits, with no error messages being displayed. Trying to run the command 'steam' in a terminal gives me this:

I am using the MATE desktop environment with the proprietary nvidia-390xx-dkms drivers, if that helps.

Any ideas on how this could be fixed?

Thanks a lot, installing this package worked!
I think my mistake was not enabling the multilib repository early on during the setup process.

You do not have the same error at all and the provided log also doesn't indicate a segfault or any other critical failure.
Please do not hijack 4 year old, solved, threads.

Check your locale, if that does't help, open a new thread, elaborate on context and problem, post the entire steam log and your Xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General and the output of "localctl; locale; locale -a" and "glxinfo -B" there
