[Solved] Xrandr - Second monitor freezes, can only see cursor

Hi all,

I upgraded my packages and rebooted and previously, my external monitor used to work fine. Now, it no longer works: using

xrandr --output eDP1 --auto --output DP1-1 --auto --right-of eDPI

produces a super strange bug - the monitor activates, but only shows a frozen image of the upper left corner of the main screen. I can move the cursor and see it moving over the workspace, but the image itself is frozen.

xrandr -q produces the following:

Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 5760 x 2160, maximum 32767 x 32767

VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

I'm at a bit of a loss here. The Xorg logs don't show anything interesting:

[ 585.402] (II) intel(0): resizing framebuffer to 5760x2160
[ 585.454] (II) intel(0): switch to mode 1920x1080@60.0 on DP1-1 using pipe 1, position (3840, 0), rotation normal, reflection none

Has anyone encountered this before?

Do you run a compositor? Which? What if you disable it?

Yes, I am - I am running compton-tryone-git. Disabling it completely fixes the issue! Thank you a ton, I would not have suspected the compositor.
