I am a newbie and today morning I broke my system after a system upgrade.
So i decided to reinstall arch linux after reading many forums.
Now I've booted the live cd and mounted the root partition now i'm gonna format / partition.
If i type ls /mnt I can see the home folder too.
My question is if haven't mounted the home partition and formatted the root partition will it erase all my data in home partition(There are very important data here and i've no way to backup right now).
Not relevant for above question
I cd into home folder and saved a file with the names of all the packages installed. (So after reinstallation I can install all ofthem easily)
If I format the root partition and run pacstrap command will it fix the system(that's how i'm gonna do this).
Am I doing this right

No.
A re-installation is never needed. If you can start a new thread describing your issues we can work on fixing them.

Thanks for the fast reply. I'll open a new thread.
