On a fresh install, I just installed nvidia drivers, xorg, plasma-meta and kde-applications-meta and fired up nvidia-xconfig so it generates a basic xorg.conf file (that I will tweak later on with nvidia-settings on a comfortable UI)
I've also installed xorg-xinit and followed the wiki and added exec startplasma-x11 to my .xinitrc file
Upon firing startx, kde seems like it wants to launch, I can see the "loading kde plasma" screen, and then, the background, but that's it: no task bar, no icons, no nothing: Even the screensaver works, but there's no UI at all.
Particularities of my setup that may or may not matter:
- Two screens, different resolutions: On previous setups it didn't give me much trouble.
- Attempted this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … de_setting
- Secure boot enabled by self-generated certs (i think it has zero impact, but who knows)
Any help?
Did I miss adding myself to any group? any package I have not installed?

I just tried that but did not work.

For what it's worth, just tried it on another machine without a graphics card but with the CPU integrated video chip (i7 4770k) and I still get the same issue so, this might not be something to do with the video card drivers, but with KDE itself....
The installation is on a usb stick (I'm making a portable setup)

Post a journal log and maybe a xorg.0.log after the log in attempt:
sudo journalctl -b
Online
journalctl -b output: https://pastebin.com/aU3kJcjy
Xorg.0.log: https://pastebin.com/sJX4qDtL
Xorg.0.log.old: https://pastebin.com/992ieXHu
Thanks!
