[SOLVED] Having issues with Deepin Desktop environment

I used to use Manjaro with DDE, and last week I updated my system and suddenly deepin looked completely different (probably because of the UI update, didn't look **too** bad per se) and was a little buggy. I could cope with that, nothing too terrible. But after a few days, I started getting some much worse issues. (I'll detail them below.) I tried reinstalling Manjaro a few times but all the problems persisted. Last night I went back to using Arch. I went through all the steps in the install guide from the wiki carefully, and the installation went pretty flawlessly.

I installed deepin, and everything seemed to be working mostly okay, but after using the computer for a while, all the problems came back. This behaviour (not working properly only after a while) was also occuring after the Manjaro installs.

The issues I am facing are:

Wi-Fi

Although the Wi-Fi works, the applet doesn't show on the launcher and in the deepin settings there is no Wi-Fi section under the network section. It was working perfectly fine right after I installed the system, but it stopped a few hours after that (I rebooted the system various times in between, after one such reboot it wasn't working any more.)

Touchpad

Similar to the Wi-Fi issue, the touchpad works, but the touchpad section in the deepin settings window is missing under mouse settings. I had originally configured my touchpad to use natural scrolling, but now it no longer works. Also I can no longer tap the touchpad to click, I have to actually ckick it down hard. Similarly, I cannot two-finger-tap for a right click, I have to click the bottom right corner of the touchpad. It seems to me that something wrong with deepin is causing none of its settings to take effect, and the default touchpad settings from the driver are being applied. This issue occurs exactly the same times that the Wi-Fi issue above occurs.

Responsiveness

The dock icons keeps flashing for like a milisecond about every 10 seconds. When I click on an icon it sometimes takes a few clicks for it to respond. It gives me the feeling that there are short intervals where it is not responding to clicks and short intervals where it is. The same thing happens with keyboard shortcuts. I tried rapidly clicking ctrl+alt+t to open the terminal 20 times, but only 6 windows opened. I repeated it clicking at slower intervals and I only got 8 windows. Same when I hit the Windows key, it only sometimes brings up the application menu. If I tap it repeatedly, it eventually comes up after up to 3 hits.

Sometimes, all the icons disapear for a few seconds, and then slowly load back one at a time.

When I tap the NumLock key, the light immediately toggles, but sometimes after about a second, it toggles back. Other times, after about a second the screen shows a message that NumLock indeed toggled (it used to be pretty immediate before). With CapsLock, the key always works, but sometimes there is no message displayed on the screen, other times it takes about a second to show up.

Typing text works fine though, bringing me to once again believe that it is an issue with deepin. (Again, this issue only came up at the same time the two issues above occured.)

Animations

This issue I suspect is due to the same thing as the previous one. Ever since the previous three issues began, I also noticed that animations and transitions were messed up. They kind of freeze mid-animation most of the time for a split second, and sometimes are delayed by about a second before they start. I've noticed this the most with notifications.

Lockscreen Logo

Another issue (this one happened as soon as I installed deepin) is that on the login screen, in the bottom right corner, where it is supposed to show the deepin logo, it instead shows a blue triangle, which I believe is a portion of the Arch logo (when under manjaro it used to show two green rectangles, which I believe was a portion of the manjaro logo). This is makes the lockscreen look quite ugly and is probably just a matter of creating the correct symlink, I just dont know where it is looking for the logo.

Cursot theme

Another minor one is that when I switch the computer on and I'm on the lockscreen, the mouse theme is not the one I have chosen, and it only changes after I've logged in. I believe this one was already an issue from way back when, but I cannot be certain.

Conclusion

I know that I'm probably not going to be able to get these all fixed, but I just cannot use any other DE after I've used deepin, as they all look horrendous alongside it. I would appreciate any help I can get. I'm willing to post the output of any required commands, just tell me which ones are needed. I couldn't find the version of deepin that I'm using, but on the lockscreen nect to where the deepin logo is supposed to be it says 20 beta, so I'd be willing to install a stable non-beta version if possible (I liked the interface more before the update anyway), I just have a bad feeling about trying to downgrade manually, because that sounds like a bad idea on a rolling release distro.

I'd be happy to file any bug reports as well if necessary, I am just not sure where to do this.

I reinstalled deepin, and everything seems to work fine (for now, I don't expect it to last very long). I installed a different greeter, which looks a lot nicer, so I no longer care about the lockscreen issues...

That didn't last very long... Since the last edit, I rebooted my computer a few times, but just now I rebooted it again, and the problem came back. This time I tried reinstalling deeping with

$ yay -S deepin

and then rebooting and all seems fine for now. (last time I had uninstalled deepin, lightdm, and xorg and had set them up again). Next time this happens I will try to reinstall the pagages in the deepin group one at a time to see which is at fault.

First, stop reinstalling things. It's completely pointless to install the exact same files over and over again. Also stop using unsupported AUR helpers (yay), or at the very least don't use them to install/update packages from the official repos.

Also work on and post one problem at a time (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … ow_to_post), start with the one that matters most. Your post is riddled with "it worked and then it didn't" comments which typically means that some install or configuration you performed broke it, not that it stopped working by itself after a reboot.

If you want to start with your Wifi applet, change your post title to something like "Deepin Wifi applet missing" and only post relevant information for that one topic. Also run a proper "pacman -Syu" first and reboot to get your system fully up to date before you post logs, etc.

I appreciate the tough love, but at the end of the day (or should I say night) I did just reinstall the deepin group and it did solve the issue...
