Like 50% of the time touchpad doesn't work on boot, started losing hope.

Tried adding i8042 boot parameters, not sure if didn't work at all or decreased chance of touchpad not working from like 80% to 50%.

check perhaps if you are not hitting this , I have a Yoga S940IWL (which is also an Ideapad); you could look for i2c and designware related error messages during boot ( see dmesg).
