Will arch switch to the new X11 from X.org

Just came across this over at /. http://slashdot.org/articles/04/03/17/2 … 87&tid=189

Since the recent controversy over XF86 4.4 license change, looks like some alternitives are being adopted. This is basically a fork of the XF86 tree right before the license change. Thank goodness for open source.

Re: Will arch switch to the new X11 from X.org

good news. it was about time for a big project (Fedora) to leave xfree's implementation.. [team got splitted, licence became nonGPL, but the lead dev is stilly happy]..

I like freedesktop cause it has some really nice project [common HAL system, also tries to combine GNOME KDE etc]

new xfree's xserver (with the problematic licence) wasn't adopted by anyone..

Distros that are carrying it in with the license change integrated into their distribution are: NetBSD , Ark Linux , OpenNa Linux ,  Plamo Linux .
If you know of others, please let our Webmaster know.
