Can't get sound to work on new Asus Zenbook UX533FTC

Hello,

So first I'd like to introduce myself - I've been a main maintainer of https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ASUS_N550JV and https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AS … X430/UX530 pages, so I know these Asus laptops pretty well and their issues. In most cases - they work just fine.

And now I bought UX533FTC laptop, but I can't get audio to work. Tried everything I could possibly try (alsamixer, pavucontrol etc etc), but nothing makes this ultrabook make a sound through speakers as well as headphones.

I've found similar bug reports too: https://www.google.com/search?q=UX533FTC+no+sound+linux but none of suggested workarounds helped me.

Wondering if Arch Linux community has any solutions or tips?

Also microphone is also not capturing any input. Looks like it's capturing some sort of static noise, but mic chart is not changing when I am talking.

Re: Can't get sound to work on new Asus Zenbook UX533FTC

Hello.

I have Asus Zenbook UX533FTC, dualboot Ubuntu 20.04 (fresh install) alongside with Windows 10 (it was here). Sound works fine in Windows (of course), but there's no sound at all in Ubuntu. Previously was installed Ubuntu 19.10, also with no sound. Actually, I already live half a year without sound on my laptop. I do not know, how to fix it.

But microphone works. I just tested it on Skype, other side hears me well (while I do not hear nothing).

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … mments/132 this! Those guys are still working on it, but at least I finally can hear the audio via internal speakers on this laptop. smile
