Bluetooth audio stutters occasionally

I'm using a bluetooth headset [1] via a dongle [2] via pulseaudio-bluetooth. The audio stutters every 30 seconds for a few seconds - more under load. So far I've tried

- tsched=0 and playing with the associated settings (default-fragments and default-fragment-size-msec)
- realtime-scheduling yes and no
- pactl set-port-latency-offset <bluetooth id> headset-output 125000

Nothing helped reliably.
