Cinnamon is not persisting Appearance configuration

Hi,

I'm on Arch using Cinnamon. I tried to make some changes to the system's look'n'feel on "Menu > Preferences > Customize Look and Feel".

I changed, for example, the Widget style to "Breeze Dark", but the changes are not applied when "Apply" button is pressed, neither after a Logout.

I also made changes on mouse cursor and the same behavior is present. The configuration is not being properly persisted.

$ pacman -Qi cinnamon
Name            : cinnamon
Version         : 4.6.2-1

$ pacman -Qi cinnamon-control-center 
Name            : cinnamon-control-center
Version         : 4.6.0-1

However, if I go directly to the "cinnamon-settings" (or "Menu > Preferences > System Settings > Theme" and make the changes there, it seems to persist configuration after a Logout, but the available options are different. It seems we have two utilities to change Cinnamon's Appearance. Very confusing.

Is anyone having the same issue? I'm not sure how I can debug this problem further, since it's a GUI app and I don't know where it drops the logs.

Let me know if I can provide you guys with further info/logs.

I really want to switch definitively from Plasma to Cinnamon (not on Linux Mint, though ). I need help solving this issue to be able to trust the DE I'm using.

I don't have this program installed on my system, and hence it is not available in the menu of installed programs. Given that you say nothing you do there has the slightest impact, it would make logical sense this is not part of Cinnamon...

I do have this menu entry, though. It's provided by /usr/share/applications/cinnamon-settings.desktop and the program it executes is /usr/bin/cinnamon-settings, and its purpose is indeed to control the behavior of Cinnamon.

You could try grepping /usr/share/applications/ for the text string "Customize Look and Feel" to find out which *.desktop file it comes from, and use pacman -Qo to find out which package installed it.
