[SOLVED] Parted - moving partition to the left

I have a disk with a single partition and some free space at the start. I want to move the partition to the start (left) and then grow it to fill the disk. There is no 'move' command so how do I accomplish this?

Two ways if you care about the existing data:

1. Backup, repartition, restore

2. Backup, use gparted to move

Two ways if you don't care about the existing data:

1. Repartition

2. Use gparted to move

It seem silly that Gparted has a move function but Parted doesn't. Oh well, thanks for the clarification.

The machine the disk is on is headless, that's why I was trying to use Parted.

Parted used to have a move function, but it was removed together with the bitrotted and broken filesystem operations almost a decade ago. Also note that parted and gparted, despite the name, are two different projects.
