Lenovo Carbon X1 7. gen Muted and mute light on

Hi dear Archers,
since the last kernel update, the mute light on the F1 key is permanently switched on and the laptop muted, alsamixer and system sound are switched on, the F1(mute)  as well as F2/3 (Vol up/down) do seemingly change the mute status and Volume, however not the actual muteness or the light....
Any suggestions?
Kind regards
Agrajag

I had that issue too... And, somehow, I went on and installed pulseaudio-git from AUR that fixed the issue for me.

Didn't work for me unfortunately, but thanks.... However I realised I can switch off the light while in Bios...just to turn itself on again on reboot

Having the same issue here, can you let me know if you were able to fix it?
I tried installing pulseaudio-git but no luck so i rolled back
What option in the Bios were you able to change for the light to go off...and did that make the sound come back on or just worked on the light?

Thanks!!

Hi pbateman,
Sadly I have not found a solution so far...
If you go into Bios you can switch on and of the light via the mute key...i asume the audio would work then, however linux mutes it again on booting and I dont know how to test it in bios. ...

Re: Lenovo Carbon X1 7. gen Muted and mute light on

Thanks....
I wonder how come more people haven't experienced this with their X1gen7
I am waiting for the wiki page on the X1gen7 to be updated and see if someone finds a fix.
Bluetooth seems to work as a workaround but i like to use my built in speakers so I'm stuck with no volume in the speakers OR the headset port.
If you do fix it do post ...

Found a solution for me:
run alsamixer -c0, there the master was muted AND volume turned to 0
Its in archwiki now too

Btw. In the same window mute speakers while on 100 and unmute bass, that turns on all 4 speakers...sometimes I hate linux

Re: Lenovo Carbon X1 7. gen Muted and mute light on

Thanks, somehow that didn't work for me, I had already seen the master volume was muted so i had raised it but still had the issue.
I don't see it in the wiki though, is it in the Carbon7gen page?

I ended up installing the LTS kernel and all is working, mute light works as it should and the speakers work again!
If nothing else I will run LTS until they fix the current one and them maybe go back to the standard kernel.

Re: Lenovo Carbon X1 7. gen Muted and mute light on

It happened to me also. What I have done is firstly to turn off the light:

sudo vim /sys/class/leds/platform::mute/brightness

and change the value to be 0.

Then the key F1 works again and I can use it to turn on and off speaker again.
