how to get libgpod python bindings

Hello,

I've noticed that libgpod no longer includes the Python bindings after release 8.  I reported this as a bug, since the upstream release does include these and they don't appear to be available as a separate package.  But the bug was immediately closed with a cryptic "that's the point" and no further explanation.  Does anybody know what's going on?  Or even just how to find out more info?  I really need this software.

Thanks!

Re: how to get libgpod python bindings

Python 2 is being phased out and all unused python 2 modules are being dropped. If you need it, rebuild the package yourself.

Re: how to get libgpod python bindings

Thank you!  That's very helpful.

Seems like it would be better to just port it to python 3 than to get rid of one of the few ways of communicating with old ipods.  Then again, I'm sure I'd be the only user so probably not worth my time to make an AUR package or anything.
