Dell XPS 15 9560 boot hang after upgrade to kernel 5.7.2+

I can boot successfully if I enter the rescue console and then continue via CTRL-D, but hang otherwise. This didn't happen before upgrading the kernel (& everything else at the same time via pacman -Syu) to 5.7.2. I am now running 5.7.7-arch1-1 and experiencing the same behaviour.

I have a triple boot system with Windows, Ubuntu, Arch. The grub.cfg entry that works is given below. The only difference with the entry that hangs, is the addition of ' rescue'

linux /boot/vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/nvme0n1p10 acpi_rev_override=1 pcie_aspm=off rescue
initrd /boot/initramfs-linux.img

Sorry to be so ignorant, but which logs should I examine (& how) to dig into this problem further?
