I tried sddm and gnome works well. And I noticed

Failed to load module "ati" (module does not exist, 0)

So I tried to install xf86-video-ati,and gdm works first,then it doesn't work next time.
Here's /var/log/Xorg.0.log(gdm works):

Any reply is appreciated.

Looks very much like a timing issue.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … de_setting , are you using late or early KMS ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Amazing.I add amdgpu into /etc/mkinitcpio.conf,it works.Though I don't know how it works and why it didn't work previously.
Many thanks!!

Re: [Solved]Gnome Display Manager doesn't load amdgpu driver

Display managers like sddm & gdm need to have the graphical environment up and running to be able to display anything .

Linux starts in a basic videomode and switches to graphical mode when the kernel module for the card is loaded (if you boot without quiet you can see when this happens).

The videocard needs time to make the switch.

Systemd relies on systemd-udev to tell the kernel what modules it needs to load and in which order.
It does look like the videocard related modules are often scheduled rather late.

Putting the kernel module in the initramfs ensures it's started early and vastly increases the chance it will be ready when it's needed.

Please prepend [Solved] to the thread title (edit first post).
